Debra Messing and her boyfriend Will Chase have recently split after nearly three years of dating, her rep confirms exclusively to Us Weekly.

"Debra Messing and Will Chase have ended their two-and-a-half year relationship," Messing's rep tells Us, "but remain close friends."

Messing, 46, and Chase, 44, found love in late 2011, after starring together on their now-canceled musical drama series, Smash. Shortly after they started dating, Messing gushed about how much she enjoyed being on the set of the show.

"The amount of fun I'm having on this show is so ridiculous — off the charts already," Messing told reporters at the TCA panel for Smash in January 2012. "The cast is so accomplished, so committed."

An insider told Us at the time that the mom to son Roman, now 10, was "completely smitten" with Chase. The actor, who has two teenage daughters, Gracie and Daisy, coincidentally played Messing's romantic interest on the musical drama series, which also starred Katharine McPhee.

The show, though canceled by NBC in spring 2013, still opened new doors for both stars — on different sets. Messing's new TV show, The Mysteries of Laura, debuted last month, while Chase has had a recurring role on Nashville since early 2014.
