The 2019 season of Jeopardy! has potential to go down as one of the best, and most historic, in the game show's franchise. Now the program has its second million-dollar winner in James Holzhauer, who hit that mark Tuesday. Holzhauer has now become known as "Jeopardy James" on Twitter. Some claim Holzhauer, a Las Vegas sports bettor, has deceived the game show.
Before Holzhauer's story, there's host Alex Tebek entering perhaps his final season after announcing last month he's battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Trebek, 78, made the announcement and, in his true humorous fashion, said he needed to keep working through the end of his contract, which ends at the end of the 2021-22 season.
Then there's Holzhauer, who's on pace to crush the all-time winnings record for the show, even drawing praise from former Jeopardy! Star Ken Jennings, who holds the record with $2.5 million through 74 games. Holzer has passed the million-dollar mark in just 14 games played.
Holzhauer had a single-day winnings of $131,127 last week, which walloped his own single-day record of $110,914, set just one week prior, according to CNN. On Tuesday night, Holzhauer won $118,816 to pass the million dollar mark.

Holzhauer is a Las Vegas sports bettor who's made his way through one of TV's toughest quiz shows by using skilled knowledge and gambling savvy to quickly work his winnings to a cool million dollars. According to ESPN, Holzhauer is averaging $75,000 a day in winnings, which would rapidly pass Ken Jennings' marks if he continues his streak.
Holzhauer has doubled down on the game's Daily Doubles, which has launched him into another atmosphere when it comes to winning.
Jenings earned more than $2.5 million in his ballyhood moment in the 2004 season, and even the all-time champ is enamored by what Holzhauer is doing.
